Who: Dylan and Jack
What: Dylan's feeling restless. Discussion of various powers and what it's like to have them follows.

[personal profile] onebehind: *in that case, is, no shit, stretched out in the most inopportune place on the floor of the suite as a wolf, his head on his paws. he'll probably stop being a wolf before too long, but for now he's just enjoying being obnoxious*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *has probably stepped over him a couple of times already, but at least he hasn't actually tripped over him. because that would probably suck for both of them. but anyroads, have a him on the couch, apparently reading a book, though there's a fair amount of thoughtful staring at Dylan over the top of it going on, too. he's partly wondering if he's alright, and partly wondering how that all works and what it's like and so on. he's seen Merritt and Dylan both change, of course, but still*

[personal profile] onebehind: *has noticed him staring, on and off, and the last time he looks up over the top of the book, he raises his head from his paws and tilts it to one side. he could ask, if he wanted*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and since he's obviously been caught, this time, goes ahead and lowers his book, propping himself up on an elbow* You okay? *because maybe he just feels like hanging out, but there could be reason if he's being purposefully antisocial*

[personal profile] onebehind: *takes a moment to consider that, his head still tipped to one side. when he seems to come to some sort of conclusion, he rights his head and very deliberately catches his eyes. and without words, though he could manage them telepathically, even like this -- just because he's a wolf doesn't mean he's forgotten how to speak English -- he impresses a tiny bit of his restlessness on Jack*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *lets out a slightly amused breath at that, considering he knows that's not his feeling - and then makes a face* That sucks, dude.

[personal profile] onebehind: *huffs, seemingly by way of agreement, and then moves to stand up. takes a moment to stretch, a yawn accompanying it, albeit mostly on general principle than any actual tiredness, and then moves over to him, shifting as he goes, the transformation not unlike that of an animagus from Harry Potter -- fluid, painless, and quick. takes a deep breath once he's back to himself and moves to sit down in his chair, which, yep, is the same, regardless of verse* Little bit. *a beat* I thought maybe being the wolf would help -- *sometimes it does, in the same way practicing magic, real or sleight of hand, sometimes does* -- but ... *shakes his head a little*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and even though he's seen it, that's still ridiculously cool. sits up, himself, leaning forward briefly to set his book on the coffee table. and makes another face when he sets back* Still sucks. *a beat* And I didn't mean to interrupt.

[personal profile] onebehind: *he shakes his head a little* You didn't. *if he'd really wanted to be left alone, he wouldn't have stayed in the suite, and like he said, it wasn't help anyway, so*

[personal profile] the_death_card: Okay, good. Or... not good, or... *he's not sure where he was going with that, but he gets the point*

[personal profile] onebehind: *he makes a small, dimly amused noise and leans forward to reach for the cards ever-present on the coffee table* I got what you meant. *a beat and then he inclines his head towards Jack's book as he starts shuffling the cards* Sorry for interrupting you.

[personal profile] the_death_card: *shrugs* It wasn't really holding my attention anyway.

[personal profile] onebehind: *not unkindly* So I noticed. *still, though*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and just shrugs again. talking's better than reading anyway when it comes to keeping back his own restlessness*

[personal profile] onebehind: *continues fidgeting with the cards, alternating between shuffling and Sybil Cuts idly, his attentions focused on Jack rather than said cards* You, too? Or ... ? *or did he read that wrong?*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *lets out a wry breath as he reaches up to run a hand over his head* Kind of, yeah. *drops his hand* It could be worse?

[personal profile] onebehind: *offers him a small, sympathetic look* It could be.

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and pops one shoulder in a shrug again. he's struck "chill" tonight instead of actually restless like Dylan apparently has. but to change the subject since that one's gonna go nowhere.... and he may have said this before, but just in case.... * That's really damn cool, by the way.

[personal profile] onebehind: *it might have come up, but he doesn't mind hearing it. he also thinks it's pretty cool, too, if the little proud grin that finds its way onto his face is any indication* It's -- I've been doing this for more than a century, and it doesn't get old. *a beat and then* Any of it. *the magic, real or otherwise. what he can do as a vampire. any of it. and maybe he's biased because he really hasn't gotten to do much with his skillset in about thirty years for fear of drawing suspicion, but*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *mirrors the grin* Good to know. *although: he's only really been doing the normal magic thing for a few years, but it really just keeps getting better, so he can't imagine how the real stuff would ever stop being awesome*

[personal profile] onebehind: *continues to smile at him for a moment and then* You've seen Merritt's, right? *he imagines he has to have, if not for the first time recently, then sometime while they were all living together, getting ready to take down Tressler and Bradley and such*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *nods* Yeah. It's still cool, too.

[personal profile] onebehind: *half-seriously, half-jokingly* I'm a little jealous. *because being able to fly would be cool*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *raises an eyebrow a little...* Because he can fly, or...?

[personal profile] onebehind: *he nods* Yeah.

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and then raises both eyebrows at him* Dude, you can turn into a wolf. *and yes, he gets that was half a joke, but. dude.*

[personal profile] onebehind: *makes a small, amused noise* I can turn into a wolf. *yeah, that's cool, too, and he knows it*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and then the grin's back*

[personal profile] onebehind: *returns the smile, however briefly. and after a moment or two of silence ... * You were curious about ... *he makes a vague gesture with the cards. about the shapeshifting. if Jack wants to ask, he won't stop him*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *nods a little and then looks thoughtful for a moment before...* Just... what's it like? *he'll start there*

[personal profile] onebehind: It's ... *he stops short, stops there, frowning as he considers how to put it. there's a lot to it, from the instinct that comes with it to just how freeing it is in a lot of ways, and that's hard to put into words* ... it's good. *yeah, that's descriptive. makes a little face and backs up a little, conversationally* I'm still me. I still have my thoughts. I could have actually answered you, when you asked how I was rather than just ... *just pushing a little bit of his restlessness at him* ... but there's ... instinct that comes with it, too. *and as if it wasn't obvious what he means by that, his expression turns briefly predatory, his eyes hot from under his eyebrows. it disappears when he looks away, down at the cards, and then looks back up*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *smiles a little at Dylan's first attempt to explain - and then nods when he goes on. Jack will probably be nervous about the change on some level up until Dylan actually does it, but there's a lot of it that he is excited for, and he's trying to focus on those* Yeah. Merritt said he didn't really have to learn to fly, that he just... knew how. *a beat* Or, well, he said he didn't fly into any windows or anything, so... *grins a little*

[personal profile] onebehind: *huffs out a sigh of a laugh* Yeah, there's that. *or the fact that he could tell an actual wolf pack to stay the hell away from him just by knowing exactly how to make the right noises. or ... rather than say that, though, since yeah, same difference, he sobers again, his expression turning back towards thoughtful* There's kind of a sense of ... freedom to it, too. I don't know if it's the same for Merritt, but for me, there's just something about being a little less than human. *there's a sense that he could just take off into the woods and do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted, without having to worry about humans or other vampires or hunters or anything. and maybe that's part of the instinct he mentioned, the alpha dog mentality, but still*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *and smiles a little, again, warmly* Yeah, I can see how that'd be nice.

[personal profile] onebehind: *he offers Jack a little smile in return, almost embarrassed somehow, and then pops one shoulder in a shrug*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *sobers a little, after a minute* Does it take a lot out of you, to... *change or whatever*

[personal profile] onebehind: It's gotten easier as I've gotten older, but ... yeah, kind of. *a moment of hesitation follows -- again with him not wanting to frighten Jack -- and then* And not in a sort of tiring way. *it cuts into how long he can go without blood*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *nods. that's pretty much what he figured. and even if he isn't the greatest reader ever and didn't get that, he knows there's a lot of blood involved with all this. that's not the part that's liable to freak him out*

[personal profile] onebehind: *some people do freak, regardless of how okay they think they are with vampires, when they realize just how much blood is involved, though, or they start thinking that he's going to just sort of mindlessly jump them for it. and yeah, okay, he's probably fed off of someone who wasn't exactly willing once or twice before -- and then felt guilty, despite the fact that he tried to make it a pleasant experience and then took the memory of it from them so they didn't have to carry around that trauma of that giant rape metaphor -- he likes his dinner plans to be consensual when he does have a warm meal. it's better for everyone that way. but at any rate, he just watches him quietly, his eyebrows slightly raised*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *okay, yeah, he's not saying he won't ever, but. to be honest, if any part's freaking him out at the moment, it's the dying part. not that he doesn't trust Dylan and not that he doesn't know it'll be temporary, but. his mom died. he found one of his foster moms dying. see also his nervousness about the chase, even though he knew the plan and that the other Horsemen had things under control. death freaks him out. but anyway, raises an eyebrow back at him after a moment...* I can't really do the thing yet, dude.

[personal profile] onebehind: *makes a small noise, almost amused but not quite* Sorry. I was doing the thing. *and he's not sure whether or not he should tell him he'll make it quick. he'll just ... dart in and snap his neck once he's sure he's had enough blood. it won't hurt for more than a second. he won't even know it happened until he wakes up again*

[personal profile] the_death_card: *probably not - he won't want warning, and if he's not first, he also won't watch with the others. he has enough nightmares about something happening to the others without that particular fuel* Oh, okay. *shrugs*

[personal profile] onebehind: *honestly, he probably will turn Jack first -- in part because of what they're not actually discussing and in part because he's his favorite. but at any rate, he shrugs, too, cuts the cards a couple more times, and then stills them in his lap* It's kinda force of habit. *like it probably is for Merritt*

[personal profile] the_death_card: No, I know. *because yes, it definitely is for Merritt - and Merritt makes even less a secret of it than Dylan* It's not bothering me.

[personal profile] onebehind: Just checking. I know that it kind of bothers Daniel. *though, really, that hasn't stopped him from reading him completely, and not because he's trying to be a dick or whatever. like he said, it's force of habit. hell, more than that, at this point, it'd be like trying to walk around Times Square with his eyes closed*
